October 27th, 2014

As you all may know by now, my recital is slated for October 27th, 2014 at 7pm inside the renowned Jazz Lab at the University of Central Oklahoma, and I could not be happier with the cats who have agreed to play on it. On piano, Alyssa Kozlowski; on drums, Jemar Poteat; and on bass, Stephen Schultz. No matter how I play that night these cats will be swingin' harder than anyone in Oklahoma - guaranteed.

The downside is the set list is compromised of required styles of tunes, so my tune choice is limited to songs that will fit those requirements. However, after I meet those requirements I am free to add extra material as needed. I am hoping to finish composing a tune, or two, to add in, but if not there will surely be copious amounts of improvisation on the tunes already decided upon. 

Auditions concluded last week and I found myself in Jazz Composer's Combo once again. I look forward to once again being amidst the great bass skills of Stephen Schultz and drumming of Michael Bremo. It will be a fitting end to my time at UCO.

This semester will be long and challenging, but ultimately worth it. Graduation looms in the distance of mid-December, and I feel great having completed a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Guitar Performance. I look forward to pursuing a Master's in the Fall of 2015!
